About MVP: Our program

VA’s largest effort to improve health for Veterans

  • MVP is a research program designed to better understand— and eventually treat—the health conditions that affect Veterans of all eras and backgrounds.
  • The more Veterans who join MVP, the more we can improve health care for Veterans and non-Veterans alike. Researchers use information from MVP to study the ways genes interact with environmental and lifestyle factors to affect health.
  • Veterans who join MVP provide a blood sample for genetic analysis, grant researchers secure access to their health records, and complete surveys about health and lifestyle.
